ABOUT KERRY
Kerry Coddett is a Caribbean-American writer, actress, and stand-up comedian from Brooklyn whose work thrives in the gray areas—where nuance reigns, contradictions thrive, and preconceived notions unravel. She is currently a 2025 Rideback Rise Fellow, part of a prestigious content accelerator founded by Netflix’s head of film to support visionary POC filmmakers in developing market-ready, mainstream projects. (Their words, not hers.)
Most recently, she served as a co-producer and writer on an upcoming Apple TV drama executive-produced by David Oyelowo. She is also a graduate of the WGA Showrunner Training Program and was the Co-Executive Producer, Showrunner, and Head Writer of HBO’s Yvonne Orji: A Whole Me. Before that, she wrote on both seasons of Showtime’s Flatbush Misdemeanors, where she also appeared as a recurring guest star, and she has written for Wyatt Cenac’s Problem Areas (HBO).
On-screen, Kerry has appeared in Hulu’s Ramy, Showtime’s Desus & Mero, HBO’s Pause w/ Sam Jay and Crashing, and Netflix’s The Iliza Shlesinger Sketch Show, among others. Before turning to comedy, she graduated cum laude at 19 and launched her first business as a fashion designer and stylist for Jay-Z.
A fearless and versatile performer, Kerry trained at UCB and made history as the first woman comic to win Caroline’s on Broadway Comedy Madness Competition, beating out 64 other comedians. She has performed at New York Comedy Festival, Laughing Skull Festival, Skankfest, The Women in Comedy Festival, The Brooklyn Comedy Festival, and Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival.
Beyond entertainment, Kerry is a passionate community organizer and the founder of Kwanzaa Crawl, an annual New York City event that has generated over $500K in a single day for local Black-owned businesses.
